WHAT ARE THE SURFING DISCIPLINES RECOGNIZED UNDER PLOM

Together with ISA, PLOM govern and defines Surfing as Shortboard, Longboard & Bodyboarding, StandUp Paddle (SUP) Racing and Surfing, Para-Surfing, Bodysurfing, Wakesurfing, and all other wave riding activities on any type of waves, and on flat water using wave riding equipment.

HOW TO GET CONTEST TO BE SANCTIONED BY PLOM?

Once the license application has been approved by Pejabat Pendaftaran Sukan, PLOM will receive an email and we will assist the surf organizers on the proper surf contest organization to ensure it is following the required safety guidelines & standard. All PLOM sanctioned events will be following ISA rules book & the head judge must be certified and holds a valid license by ISA.

WHY IS SANCTIONING IMPORTANT

  • To ensure surf events follow the industry standard of surfing, including the SOP on safety, equipment, officials & event flow

  • To ensure consistency in standards across all surf competitions held in Malaysia

  • To ensure surf events are judged by registered and recognized ISA officials for an unbiased and quality judging system during event

  • A PLOM sanctioned surf event contestants will be ranked in standardised point-based system based on their achievement in a yearly National Surfing Ranking. Contestants in the national Surfing Ranking System are reviewed by relevant authorities (OCM & MSN) to be selected into the Malaysia Surfing Team representing Malaysia for international surfing events.

HOW DOES PLOM HANDLE ATHLETES SELECTION?

The athletes will be selected following their national ranking- surfers with the highest points in each category will get an opportunity to be athletes under PLOM.

HOW CAN SURFERS ACCUMULATE POINTS FOR NATIONAL RANKING

Surfers will be able to accumulate points by participating in surf contests that are sanctioned by PLOM.

The more contests they join, the more chances of winning and the more points will be collected.

The points system will be following the ISA standard.

This points system will only be available for Malaysian surfers.

WHAT ARE THE MEMBERSHIP PLANS AVAILABLE UNDER PLOM

​These are membership plans available under PLOM.

Registration Fee & Yearly Membership Fee depending on the type of membership is applicable for all members. 

Affiliated Members 

    • ​Consists of state surfing associations that are legally registered with the Sports Commissioner's Office.

  1. Associate Members

    • ​Consists of associations, clubs and organizations that carry out various sports activities other than surfing/surfing and are legally registered.

  2. Honorary Members

    • ​Consists of individuals who have contributed to the Association or individuals who can contribute to the Association appointed by the Parent Committee
